Fuji X-E2 hands on review

Fuji X-E2 hands on review

| On 31, Mar 2014

A retro-styled mirrorless Fuji camera for enthusiasts. This review includes hands on demonstrations of features and functions, in my “show-me” style.

I’m not a Fuji employee, I was not compensated by Fuji, this video has not been reviewed by Fuji prior to posting. Greg and Evan at Fuji Canada did kindly lend me the XE-2 and lenses for the review. I do my best to provide a balanced report, based on my personal experiences.

The images in the video are also available in a flickr set, where you will find the EXIF data and full resolution. In the video, they’ve been reduced to fit.

The images were primarily taken in Mexico. We stayed at the all inclusive Excellence Playa Mujeres, a most enjoyable resort (top five all inclusive on trip advisor), highly recommended. Lots of activities and live music. A bicycle trip to Ek Balam (the ruin in the photos) and Valladolid was organized by Elite Cyclery, also recommended if you want to do some jungle mountain biking around Cancun. I did a ride with them last fall.

The X-E2’s HDMI port only outputs during playback, so the screens are shot with the Sony NEX VG20 video camera (30mm macro) pointed at the screen. Tight focus on the screen yields a lot of moire, so all are slightly soft.

Edited in FCP 10.1 on a late 2009 27” iMac.

I appreciate your comments and reply to all questions.
