Top Down Florida Road Trip
Maarten | On 22, Feb 2018
It’s not that I dislike winter, but it is nice to get a break, so when Visit Florida says “Come On Down!”, Paul Marshman and I decided to take them up on the offer – particularly as I had just received the the Canon SL2 to review.
We were the guests of Visit Florida, who also brought the St. Augustine Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Ocala/Marion County Visitor and Convention Bureau and Visit Tampa Bay to participate. That enabled us to rent a convertible – which Paul and I decided was essential to capture the spirit of Florida.
Most of the footage was shot with a Sony A63000 on a Zhiyun Crane using the Sony SEL10-18 lens. It was a bit of a risky choice, and although I did see the overheating icon, it never quit. In fact, it hasn’t quit since I did the firmware upgrade with the overheating switch.
Some shots were taken with the Canon SL2 – more pictures and my review here:
The Insta360 One took some of the driving and kayaking shots. I need to both remember to bring it along and to remember to shoot with it. The quality suffers slightly, but the images are worth it.
With apologies for the dirt on the sensor – it’s something that’s not noticeable on the camera’s screen, and very hard to clear while travelling as I didn’t bring my cleaning toolkit.
